Making gift boxes out of toilet rolls

From toilet rolls I made little boxes to put my homemade bracelets in to sell and give away. It is very simple and here are the steps you can follow to make them too. You can also plate the rolls with paper. I chose to use only a stamp of my logo.

Step 1

We start with a toilet roll 😉

Step 2

We fold an edge inward about 1 cm (0,39 inch). If it will be a little more, that’s fine.

Step 3

You do the same on the other side.

Step 4

One side is now finished, we are going to do the same on the other side.

Step 5
Step 5

Now you have folded the sides inward on both sides of the roll. The box is ready. You can still press it a little bit flat.

Step 6
Step 6

Now I will stamp my logo on the box.

Tiny Origami Booklet
Tiny Origami Booklet

We are going to make this cute tiny booklet from origami paper with this step by step tutorial.

Step 1

Step 1
Step 1

First fold a square (origami) piece of paper in half. The smaller the sheets, the smaller the booklet 😉
I took 7 sheets of 15 x 15 cm white paper. (= 5,9 x 5,9 inch)

Step 2

Step 2
Step 2

On the fold line, tear the sheet in half.

Step 3

Step 3
Step 3

Then fold the two sheets in half lengthwise.

Step 4

Step 4

And fold the double-folded sheet in half width-wise.

Step 5

Then fold the bottom to the top.

Step 6

Step 6a
Step 6a

Turn the sheet over and fold the bottom to the top as well, it will look like as you can see in the picture below.

Step 6b
Step 6b

Step 7

Do this with each of the thirteen sheets. We don’t need the fourteenth, because we need an odd number.

Step 8

Step 8
Step 8

And fold all the sheets together into one big harmonica. Pay attention to two things:

  1. Slide them together in the right direction.
  2. Make sure the open side is on the back.

Step 9

Step 9
Step 9

The next one you slide exactly the other way around and that’s how you slide all the leaves together.

Step 10

Step 10
Step 10

To a large harmonica.

Step 11

Step 11
Step 11

We fold the harmonica together and hold it together with a clothespin or a big paper clip. The filling of the booklet is ready and we will continue making the cover.

Step 12

Step 12
Step 12

Take a nice origami sheet with print or with a solid color. This one is also 15 x 15 cm. ( 5,9 inch)

Step 13

Step 13
Step 13

Cut the sheet in half.

Step 14

Step 14
Step 14

We are going to cover the book like you cover a regular book. Make folds around the filling so you know how big it should be. See pictures below.

Step 14 b
Step 14b
Step 14 c
Step 14 c

Step 15

Draw two triangles where the back of the booklet will be and cut them out so you can fold it easily. On the top as well as on the bottom.

Step 16

Step 16
Step 16

Fold the top and bottom inward and then the sides as well.

Step 17

Step 17
Step 17

Now slide the first sheet of the harmonica filling into the cover.

Step 18

And slide the last sheet into the cover on the other side. Now you understand why we use an odd number of sheets.

Step 18b
Step 18b

You can also clamp it for a moment to prevent the leaves from sliding apart.

And the tiny booklet is ready!

Against boredom

Sometimes in the winter and around the holidays, it does happen that we get bored. There are all kinds of things to do, but you don’t feel like doing anything. That’s not good, because it makes you cranky! The solution is to get creative. By taking this free course in folding gift bags from magazines, for example.
